Many times the art glass becomes a project of collaboration. This project involved working with a religious illustrator and a glass painter to create the medallions in the center of each window. In this building the leaded glass windows have a theme of "Stations of the Cross." The series consists of fourteen windows using traditional glass painting for central medallions in a field of crosses. The crosses form an architectural glass grid highlighted by beveled glass jewels at key intersections. Blue tones on one elevation and earth tones on the other, suggesting heaven and earth, form spare accents to the black and white glass paintings depicting the Stations of the Cross. This project won an AIA Design Award for Art in Religious Buildings in 1990. | ||||
